Coming Soon: Kids Share Newtown!
We are currently working on making this latest book available online—stay tuned for news!
This was our fifth complete Kids Share Workshop, and our largest team of professional volunteers and directors to date. Everyone involved has been devoted to helping Newtown’s children focus on all the wonderful aspects of their community—to remind us all what a beautiful and peaceful town it is. With the guidance of professional therapists and teachers, the children wrote original stories and created artwork that convey what they love about Newtown. This powerful work appears in the vibrantly designed Kids Share Newtown: Adventures in Time Travel and Other Amazing Stories! Come back soon to get your copy…and copies for those special people in your life!
Have fun exploring the first book in our Kids Share Workshops series, as we bring children living in rural India together with those living in the U.S. through an exchange of art and ideas! Here kids from both cultures share a bit of their lives, dreams and the things they care about.
During the 2008-2009 school year, Kids Share Workshops and Publishing Inc. (KSWP) visited schools in Montpelier and Waterbury, Vermont, while also sending a workshop package to the Tibetan Children’s Village in Bylakuppe, India. In each location, kids created visual art representing their lives; they also communicated across the world via Skype, getting a valuable glimpse into each other’s communities.
Though geographically distant, together these children co-created the first Kids Share Book-and became published illustrators and authors in the process! Join them on this cross-cultural journey of exploration through children’s words, photographs and illustrations.
In the second book of our Kids Share series, we unite children from the rural coffee-growing region of San Ramon, Nicaragua with their counterparts in Montpelier, Vermont.
This workshop took place during the 2009-2010 school year, when Kids Share Workshops and Publishing Inc. traveled to a remote Nicaraguan cloud forest (that’s right, a cloud forest!), where a small community of coffee growers lives and works. Our first bilingual book (printed in English and Spanish) was a collaboration between children from River Rock School in Montpelier, Vermont, and La Casa de Cultura in the community of El Roblar, San Ramon, Nicaragua. Please join us on this enlightening and exciting journey through words and pictures!
